Welcome to
www.bridgendcameraclub.co.uk
the web site of Bridgend &
District Camera Club
This website has been created
to let you know all about the
club, and to show you some of
the photographic work that our
members produce.Our club at
Bridgend is open to anyone with
an interest in photography,
whether you are a novice or
expert, and whatever your experience.
If you would like to share your
interest in photography with
other enthusiasts, why not come
along and join us.
We meet most
Monday evenings throughout the
year from September to May.
During early summer we meet
at outdoor locations in the
area to get down to some serious
picture taking!
If you would
like to come along to see what
we do, please feel free to do
so without obligation. If you
have any questions, don’t
be afraid to ask - members will
be happy to help you. And don’t
be put off by some of the good
images you will see - the photographers
in this club have a range of
abilities and even the good
ones started with less experience
than they have now!
Enjoy your
visit to this site, perhaps
we may see you some day?
The Club
Evening
From September
to May we meet on Monday evenings
at 7.30pm. We have a programme
of events which include practical
evenings, competitions and talks
from visiting photographers.
Typically, we break at mid point
for tea and conversation for
about 20 minutes and then finish
at around 9.45pm.
Practical
Evenings
We include
a number of practical evenings
in our programme, where we set
up a studio or table top at
the club house, so members can
have a go at the different aspects
of photography which are being
introduced.
Other practical
evenings will allow us to see
various photographic, printing
or presentation techniques demonstrated.
Social
Events
On the programme
you may have seen that we hold
social events twice a year,
at Christmas and at the end
of the season in May. They are
always informal affairs and
are usually held at one of the
many local pubs or restaurants
in the aea.
Competitions
You will see
from the programme that there
are a number of competitions
throughout the year. These are
either between club members
or between our club and other
clubs in the area.
The monthly
competition is between club
members, but the competitive
element is secondary to the
comments and advice that the
visiting judge will give to
each piece of work. This competition
is in two parts, one for transparencies
and one for Black & White
or Colour prints (You need not
print your own to enter)
We also have
informal competitions for our
summer evenings, summer theme
and for a portfolio of three
pictures which have a common
topic.
Inter-club
competitions give us the chance
to meet members of other clubs
in the South Wales area and
vie for the trophies on offer.
for more details of all the
competitions.
Club
Equipment
Apart from
the slide projector and screen
that are used on club evenings,
the camera club also owns a
studio lighting set up which
any member is entitled to borrow
free of charge. The kit consists
of a single studio light, reflectors
and backgrounds, together with
a flash meter and all the appropriate
leads.
Library
The Club has
a library of photographic books
covering many aspects like creative
picture taking, printing techniques,
and work of prominent photographers.
Books are available for members
to take home free of charge.
The Annual
General Meeting
The Annual
General Meeting (AGM) is held
at the club house on the third
or fourth Monday in May. Fourteen
days notice must be given for
the meeting.
Format
of the Meeting
The meeting
will be reasonably formal and
properly minuted. A typical
agenda will include:-
* Acceptance
of previous years AGM minutes
* New resolutions
* Reports from Committee Officers
* Election of new Committee
* Presentation of Awards
* Resolutions
Resolutions
must be submitted in writing
to the secretary. The resolutions
must be displayed at least fourteen
days before the AGM. The resolutions
will be listed on the AGM agenda
and discussed and voted upon
by the members present at the
meeting.
Reports
from Committee Officers
Verbal reports
are made by each of the committee
members as appropriate. It is
very helpful to the secretary
for the reports to be submitted
in writing which will be appended
to the minutes of the AGM.
Appointment
of the Committee
Nominations
for committee positions must
be received and displayed at
least 14 days before the AGM.
Committee members will be voted
in at the meeting and can serve
for no more than 3 years at
a time.
Membership
There are
typically about 25 -30 members
in the Bridgend club, which
is run by a committee of 8.
for a list of committee members.
If you like
what you see at the club and
wish to join us, please give

Treasurer (or any other committee
member) with the appropriate
fee. Full membership is £30.00
(please see the Treasurer for
this seasons rate), but we offer

first year of membership and
for members under 18 or over
65. If you wish to pay by cheque,
