Monthly
Competitions
The monthly competitions are contests
between individual members of
the club. There are 7 competitions
throughout the season, held on
the last Monday of each month
from October to April. Each member
has the potential of gaining marks
for 21 photographs (3 per month
for 7 months).The highest 10 marks
will be added together and the
member with the highest aggregate
score will win the yearly competition.
There are two separate competitions,
one for Prints and one for Slides.
Members may submit up to three
prints and/or slides per month
to the Competition Secretary on
the notified date (see programme)
or by special arrangement with
the competition secretary at another
time.
Subjects are OPEN unless indicated
otherwise.
All work to be awarded marks out
of 20 and to be commented on in
a constructive manner. The best
picture in each competition should
receive 20 marks.
“All
Winners” Competitions
This competition is held in May
each year, to judge the best print
and the best slide from the seasons
monthly competitions.
There are two separate competitions,
one for Prints and one for Slides.
Any member who has been placed
1st, 2nd or 3rd in any of the
preceding 7 monthly competitions
in the season may submit the specific
pieces of work for these competitions.
A list of members and specific
pieces of work will be circulated
in advance by the Competition
Secretary.
Judges to mark each piece of work
out of 20 and comment constructively.
The best picture in each competition
should receive 20 marks, or to
mark such that there is a single
Winner in the slides and prints
section.
No theme is intended nor should
any marks be awarded for any theme.
Annual
Theme Competitions
These are two separate competitions,
one for prints and one for slides.
Members may submit up to three
pieces of work.
The theme for this annual competition
will be set by the committee each
year. Eligible photographs must
have been taken in the year that
the competition is held.
This competition is judged by
the club members, who each allocate
3 marks for the photograph they
think is best, 2 for second best
and 1 for third best. The picture
with the highest score wins.
Members
Print and Slide Portfolios (Panel
of Three Photographs)
Members may submit three slides
and/or prints on any theme for
consideration by the Judge. There
are two separate competitions,
one for Prints and one for Slides.
Each set of three pieces of work
should be noted to indicate the
theme.
Judges to consider and comment
on each collection of three pieces
of work as a ‘panel’
and to comment on each panel as
regards individual work’s
compliance with the panel theme,
quality, pictorial etc aspects,
and to award a single mark for
each panel to ensure that there
is a single winner in both the
slide and print sections.
